FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where did the idea come from ?
When the club moved from Love Street and the Knox Street supporters club closed, there has not been a natural place for St.Mirren supporters to congregate. There are no local bars in the area close to the stadium and there are no family-friendly areas available to cater for children.Football is now competing with other sports for families hard earned cash and if a supporters club can fulfill a new, better, match day experience then we should be able to recruit more new supporters as well as retain the current supporters.
Is there a demand for this facility ?
The Fans Council organised a St.Mirren only supporters area known as the “Fans Zone” for the home game against Motherwell on Saturday 20th December 2014. We hired a marquee funded by the purchase of lottery tickets sold to season ticket holders.
It was available to all St.Mirren supporters, but we were limited due to the capacity of the marquee which was licensed for 225 people. There were delays in marketing the event due to delays in the approval of a drinks licence, but once the drinks licence was approved, within 48 hours all spaces had been reserved in line with a registration process to manage the event.
The event was hugely oversubscribed with just under 400 people applying to attend the event with only 225 places available.
How long will it take to build this facility ?
We are estimating a 3 to 6 month build period, but no later than the end of 2015.
How do I pay ?
Monthly contributions will be by direct debit.
When will payments start
Payments will commence when the club is completed and open to founding members estimated at the end of 2015.
One months prior notice will be given before any regular contributions are deducted.
Why haven’t the club developed this area of the stadium ?
Funding the build costs takes away money from the playing budget and with a Corporate hospitality area already in place it has never been a priority for the club.
Will a member be able to sign in a non-member ?
Our original stance was we couldn’t accommodate a facility for members to sign in non-members but that has been reviewed and this facility is now available but with limited places and subject to pre-booking. Also, the non-member will have to pay a £6 admission fee so as not to disadvantage paying members.
Memberships are valuable and limited due to the capacity of the area designated.
Will the club be open on non Match Days ?
The club will only be open to members on a match day as it will be available for other uses such as functions.
Members will receive a 50% discount to book a function
What are the opening times of the club ?
On a typical match day afternoon with a 3pm kick off, the club will open at 12.00 p,m and close 20 minutes before kick off and re-open after the match at 5.00pm until 6.30 pm.
Can families apply for membership ?
Yes, we are actively looking to create a family friendly environment.
Each family member has to apply individually so we can ensure the correct membership fee’s and founders fee’s are applied.
